“…Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God” (1 Corinthians 1:24).
This week, I read Paul’s letters to the Corinthians and was struck by the truth that Jesus is the power of God and the wisdom of God. People search everywhere to seek after wisdom and power. Meanwhile, God gives us the gift of Jesus freely (John 3:16). In the letter to the Corinthians, Paul writes a reminder that believers have been given the Spirit of Jesus (1 Cor. 2:12). This means that we have full access to the power of God and the wisdom of God in Jesus.
And so, as we wrap up another year, we can hold fast to this truth that we have everything we need as we launch into a new year. Perhaps next year, we might be stepping into something new. Whether we are filled with excitement and courage or feeling uncertain of direction or our abilities, we can be fully confident that God will supply us with the wisdom to know what to do and the power to do it.
Knowing this, may our hearts welcome the gift of Jesus in a fresh new way this Christmas.
