Dear Friends,
I've been writing to you for the past several weeks about the goodness of God's creation, as described in the first chapter of Genesis. Following the creation account, chapter 2 begins, "Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done."
"Holy" means set apart. So saying God made the seventh day holy means he set that day aside as a time of rest. Though it isn't directly stated, I think it is safe to say that it is strongly implied that rest, like creation, is good. Rest is so good, in fact, that God made a special day just for rest. I'm making it a goal this week to set some time aside to experience the goodness of rest. So this will be short note. I hope you can find some time for good and holy rest as well.
Love in Christ,
Michelle
