Dear Friends,
I'm feeling very excited about our Alpha course starting Sunday November 16 and going through February 1! Here are a few things you can do to be ready for the next few months at Coast.
1. Invite at least one person to come and join us. Ask the Spirit to speak to you about whom to invite.
2. Plan to come on time at 10:00am in order to meet and get to know over breakfast any guests who will be joining us. Also plan to stay through the end of our discussion time. This will end promptly at 12:00pm each week.
3. During the discussion times on Sundays, make sure not to argue with anything guests share but to simply listen with the intent to learn about our guests and about their thoughts and opinions. We aim to "win the person, not the argument."
4. Make sure to open and read this newsletter every week. We will not be having any announcements on Sunday that are not directly relevant to guests. All other updates will appear in the newsletter only.
5. Pray! Pray! Pray! The creators of Alpha claim this is the most important thing to do while running Alpha. Set aside some time to be intentional about praying for Alpha and for any guests you meet by name. Some opportunities to pray together with other Coast members are every Wednesday night online 8:00pm-8:45pm at Zoom Meeting ID: 558 339 892, every Sunday before the service at 9:30am sharp, and at the worship and prayer night on December 5th 7:00pm at the Wilsons' house 4611 Seda Drive.
A Prayer for Today:
Holy Spirit, give me wisdom and courage regarding whom to invite to Alpha. Move in the heart of each person who is invited and bring them to Coast on November 16. Help us to love and welcome them well. Reach out to them with your love and your truth, and call your children home. Be also at work in us as we take this course together. Strengthen our faith. Strengthen our spirits. And cause us to grow in bringing the good news to our neighbors. Amen.
