Dear Friends,
This week, I have been thinking about these words, “Chase after peace with everyone,” (Heb. 12:14, my own translation). In particular, I have been thinking about the Greek word dioko, which I have translated "chase" and which means to pursue or run after and also to harass or persecute. I like the aggressive nature of this word. It makes me think that we aren’t called to merely aim for peace with others when it works out but to doggedly chase down peace in every situation, even when it seems too hard to catch. Normally, I would provide an example to help illustrate the point, but I feel this is all I should say this week. Chase peace.
Pray with me if you like.
Lord, call to mind anyone with whom I am not at peace. Show me what it looks like in this situation to pursue genuine peace with determination, and empower me through your Spirit to follow through.
Love in Christ,
Michelle
